CBD

From oil and football to cowboys and CBD — Texas has it all. In true Texas fashion, CBD in Katy, Texas is twice as nice, with just the right balance of sass and dust-kicking.

CBD has been trending exponentially over the last few years — and is expected to flourish at an annual
increase of 22.2 percent through 2025 thanks to its health and wellness properties.

With continued feverish growth means more research and development into how the hemp plant can be beneficial. Currently Delta 8 and Delta 10 are becoming the most popular forms of CBD due to it’s strength and effectiveness.

Continue reading and we will give you the rundown on what CBD does, how to purchase as well as how to dose and ingest.

CBD Tinctures

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, derives directly from the hemp plant. By law, CBD cannot contain more than 0.3 percent THC. One of the most compelling qualities is its lack of psychoactive properties. In other words, CBD doesn’t get you high, but can support the symptoms of anxiety, mood swings, insomnia, and pain. CBD reacts with our endocannabinoid system, which is involved with regulating things like sleep, appetite, pain, and immune system response.

Additionally, studies have found CBD may be useful in providing relief for:

Selecting and Purchasing CBD

There are many factors to consider when purchasing CBD. As with anything you ingest, the most important factor is quality. Fortunately there is a way to guarantee you are always purchasing the best quality CBD with lab tests.

Unfortunately, there are too many bad actors out there, and these are things they will not disclose just to get you to purchase the product they have in front of you.

Additionally, different cannabinoids and terpenes can have different affects and strengths.  Finding the right CBD blend for your specific use and desired effect is very important. Imagine purchasing a sativa based product and using it at night and not being able to sleep. If this were to happen you might not be happy, but this could have been a much more dire situation.

What to Consider When Purchasing CBD?

We have the following guide to assist in purchasing the best CBD for you.

CBD Extraction

Extraction method

Trustworthy manufacturers use pressurized and cooled CO2 for extraction. The function of the CO2 changes its state from gas to liquid and this leaves behind a cold liquid extract full of cannabinoids and other beneficial compounds such as terpenes and trichomes.

Solvent based extraction is the cheaper, more dangerous and unhealthy way to extract. This method can leave behind traces of the solvent chemical used, usually butane or chlorophyll. Both of which can be mostly removed, but will reduce the potency of the extract. Lab test will also confirm these harmful residuals are not in your CBD product.

Cannabinoid Spectrum

Cannabinoid Spectrum

There are at least 113 cannabinoids that have been isolated that make up the cannabinoid system. You may have heard of some of these like THC, CBG and CBD.  Others like CBDV CBT, and CBE maybe not. They all play some role in the overall effects of hemp and cannabis.

There are also a half a dozen or so “synthetic cannabinoids”. They are considered cannabinoids only because the intention was to mimic the real thing. This quickly turned to disaster, with the advent of “spice” and “k2”.

Third-party Lab Testing

Third-party Lab Testing

The Certificate of Analysis or (COA) from a third-party laboratory is the only way to prove the potency, purity and ingredients of your CBD product. Often times these are found through a QR code on the packaging of the product.

The existence of “spice” and any other fake cannabinoid is why lab tests are so extremely important.  Just because it has a label and is on the shelf of a store does not mean it is a legitimate product anyone should ingest.

The Cannabinoid Spectrum

The wide and beautiful spectrum of cannabinoids

As we mentioned above there are at least 113 cannabinoids, each having a unique role in the effect cannabis can have on the body.

We have included a pie chart below that helps quickly differentiate some of the more abundant cannabinoids and there effects on symptoms that one may want to dissipate without pharmaceuticals.

Unfortunately not all of these are readily available for retail purchase. As demand dictates the market manufactures follow. Currently the focus is on what we call “The Delta’s” which are Delta 8, Delta 9 and Delta 10. As well as THCP, THCO, THCV and HHC. They are generally called cannabinoid analogs, with the exclusion of Delta 9.

This means they are not 100% found in nature at the potency needed to have an affect on their own and are considered rare, in comparison to the other cannabinoids. Therefore, the analogs need one of two things

A. Another group of cannabinoids, such as those in the pie chart below, to create an entourage effect
B. They need to be manipulated, or manufactured at the molecular level to have any real effect at all

Of the analogs the most popular currently are Delta 8, Delta 10, THCP and HHC. For more info on these follow the links provided.

Cannabinoid Spectrum

CBD lends much importance to how to live a healthy life. Today, researchers are continuously discovering the numerous ways consumers can benefit from every part of the cannabis plant. It has consistently shown promise for therapeutic use in a variety of health conditions.

Stress and Anxiety

Research indicates CBD may change the way your brain’s receptors respond to serotonin, a chemical linked to mental health. It can help lessen stress, reduce physiological effects of anxiety, improve symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and influence sleep in cases of insomnia.

People with epilepsy

Researchers are examining how much CBD can subdue the number of seizures in people with epilepsy. The American Epilepsy Society states that research indicates hope for seizure disorders and that research is currently being conducted to better understand safe use.

Neuroprotective

Correlated with the receptor located in the brain, CBD can help individuals with neurodegenerative disorders, which are diseases that cause the brain and nerves to degenerate over time, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and strokes.

Acne Treatment

The effects of CBD on the endocannabinoid receptors in the body may have an effect on inflammation. Certain cannabinoids are also known to be antibacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobial. In turn, topicals may offer benefits for acne control as well as eczema and dermatitis.

Pain Reliever

The effects of CBD oil on your brain’s receptors may help you control pain associated with arthritis, chronic pain, muscle pain, and spinal cord injuries.
